Stuffed Tomatoes

A special side-dish from Cheryl Haney (Roger’s wife)
Ingredients:
4 med. tomatoes - use the number you will eat. always best if all tomatoes are of uniform size and ripeness.
2 slices bread (stale)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup margarine, melted
Directions:
1. Cut tops off tomatoes and core. Set aside.
2. ******** STUFFING: ********
3. Crumble stale bread slices in medium bowl.
4. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
5. Grate cheddar cheese over all.
6. Add enough melted margarine for stuffing to stick together.
7. Stuff tomatoes evenly.

9. All ingredients are to taste and until it looks right . I generally use one slice of bread for every 2 to 3 medium tomatoes, enough cheese to almost double the amount in the bowl, and about 1/4 cup margarine for every two slices of bread. Karen Hamby.

11. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350 F. (or can be ccooked on the gas grille).
