RECIPE IS FROM MY FRIEND ANDREA WHO GOT IT FROM A RELATIVE. TO MAKE THE GOLABKIS A LITTLE EASIER THE INVENTIVE COOK CHOPPED EVERTHING UP AND PUT IT IN A CASSEROLE. WHEN ANDREA’S POLISH GRANDMOTHER TOOK A LOOK AT HER FOOD SHE ANNOUNCED, “SOMEONE BUSTED MY GOLABKI”. Ingredients:
large head of cabbage |
2 lbs. ground beef |
4-5 cups of white rice cook according to package |
1 large minced onion |
2 large cans of tomato sauce |
1med. can of tomatoes minced |
1 small can of beef broth |
fresh parsley minced |
stick of butter for frying the cabbage-probably more |
Directions:
1. COOK THE RICE 2. SHRED THE CABBAGE AND SAUTE WITH THE ONION IN HALF THE STICK OF BUTTER – ADD MORE IF NEEDED-I DO! 3. FRY THE BEEF SEPARATELY UNTIL COOKED – ADD SALT, PEPPER AND PARSLEY 4. IN A LARGE MIXING BOWL COMBINE ALL OF THE COOKED INGREDIENTS AND ADD THE BROTH AND TOMATOES 5. ADD MORE SALT AND PEPPER IF NEEDED 6. TURN EVERYTHING INTO A LARGE BUTTERED CASSEROLE DISH 7. BAKE IN A 325 FOR 1 1/2 HOURS – 2 HOURS 8. THIS RECIPE NEEDS NO MEASURING. IT WILL ABSORB THE WET INGREDIENTS AND TIGHTEN AS IT SITS |
