Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup packed brown sugar |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 cup unbleached flour, unsifted |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
2 1/4 cups unbleached flour, unsifted |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 (1/4 ounce) packet dry yeast |
3/4 cup milk |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1 large egg |
Directions:
1. TOPPING: Mix sugars, cinnamon and flour. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. 2. CAKE: To make cake, mix 1 cup flour, sugar, salt and yeast in a large bowl. 3. Place milk and butter in a sauce pan and heat until very warm (120°- 130° F). Gradually add to dry ingredients; beat 2 minutes. 4. Beat in egg and 1 cup flour then beat on high speed for 2 minutes. 5. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft but stiff batter. 6. Spread batter into a well-greased 9-inch square cake pan and sprinkle with topping. 7. Let rise in a warm place until double in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours. 8. Bake at 350° for about 45 minutes or until done. |
