Strawberry Trifle-No Cream Cheese |

I got this recipe from one of my old cookbooks Land o Lakes. I'm posting it because it is different from a lot of other Strawberry Trifles that contain cream cheese. If you try it before me, please let me know. Cooking time is chill time. Ingredients:
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package vanilla flavored instant pudding mix |
1 cup sour cream |
1 cup milk |
1 teaspoon orange peel, grated |
2 cups whipped cream |
1 angel food cake or 1 white cake, torn into bite-size pieces |
1 liter fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl beat, instant pudding mix, orange peel, sour cream, and milk. 2. beat at low speed until thick. 3. using a spatula fold in whipped cream and mix (do not beat). 4. in trifle bowl layer 1/2 of cake pieces. 5. next layer 1/3 strawberries. 6. next layer 1/2 pudding mixture. 7. repeat layers. 8. arrange strawberries on top. 9. cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours. |
