Adapted from an old Proctor-Silex ice cream maker manual. Note: fresh peaches or nectarines can replace the strawberries, if you prefer. Preparation does not include chilling or churning time. Ingredients:
1/3 cup sugar |
1 pinch cinnamon |
7 cups strawberries |
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice |
1 cup milk (whole, half and half or heavy cream) |
Directions:
1. Place sugar, cinnamon and strawberries in food processor. Puree. (It may be necessary to do this step in batches.). 2. Add orange juice and milk and PULSE a few times to blend well. 3. Transfer mixture to a covered container and chill. Best to chill at least 3 hours or overnight. 4. Freeze mixture according to instructions for your particular ice cream maker. 5. Yield is about 6 cups. 6. Can garnish ice cream with fresh mint leaves or verbena, if desired. |
