I created this recipe for a strawberry shortcake topping, and after trying it, I realized it would be awesome for any recipe you'd like to top with a strawberry sauce, especially ice cream! It is so delicious I had to share it. Ingredients:
3 -4 cups of sliced strawberries |
1/2 cup sugar |
3 tablespoons water |
1 tablespoon lite maple syrup |
1 pinch cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan. 2. Bring to a slight boil over med high heat. 3. Reduce heat to med low and bubble for 10 minute. 4. Gently stir occasionally. 5. Remove from heat and transfer to a container. 6. Serve hot or chill until ready to use. 7. Sauce will thicken upon standing/chilling. |
