It's that time of year again, another birthday which makes me think of one thing my Grandmothers Strawberry Pie she made for me every year. Never was a cake person. even as a kid and she made a couple every year. Read more . Give everything I own for 1 just more of those pies. This one's for Na Na, just the way she wrote it. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
3 heaping tbsp. flour |
pinch of salt |
1 cup water |
2 tblsp. white corn syrup |
1/2 pkg. strawberry jello |
alittle red food coloring |
1 qt. drained fresh strawberries |
1 pie crust |
cool whip |
Directions:
1. 1 cup sugar, pinch of salt, 3 heaping Tbsp. flour 2. Mix and add: 3. 1 cup of water, 2 Tbsp. white corn syrup 4. Boil, stiring gently until clear (loses milky look) 5. cool slightly 6. add 1/2 pkg. Strawberry Jello, and a little red food coloring 7. Cool alittle more and add 1 Qt. fresh Strawberries 8. Pour into pie crust and cover whith Cool whip 9. put in icebox and cool 10. (Put 60 on cook time to include time in the icebox, she didn't give times) |
