This cake starts with a mix and ends with terrific! If you like strawberry, you will love this cake. I used to make this for my aunt because she loved strawberries and this brings back memories of her. Ingredients:

1 box (18.5 oz) white cake mix |
3 oz pkg strawberry gelatin powder |
2 tbsp flour |
4 eggs |
1/2 cup water |
3/4 cup oil |
1/2 cup frozen strawberries (about 1/2 of a 10 oz pkg) |
frosting |
1 cup milk |
1/4 cup flour |
3/4 cup solid shortening (crisco) |
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar |
1 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cake: 2. Combine cake mix, gelatin powder, flour, eggs and water. 3. Beat at medium speed for two minutes. 4. Add thawed strawberries with juice. 5. Beat one minute. 6. Add oil and beat another minute. 7. Pour into two greased and floured 9 pans. 8. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. 9. Cool completely. 10. Frosting: 11. Combine milk, flour and cook until thick , stirring constantly. 12. Set aside to cool. 13. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. 14. Add vanilla and cooled milk mixture. 15. Beat until frosting becomes stiff. 16. Frost and garnish with whole strawberries, if desired. |
