Stove Top/Skillet Macaroni and Cheese

Simple yet tasty. The oregano adds a lovely flavour. I am not certain of the source for this recipe as I have been making it for so many years and it is not noted on my recipe card.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
1 cup onion, chopped
1 tablespoon flour
1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
8 ounces macaroni
3 1/2 cups milk
2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Directions:
1. Melt butter in skillet.
2. Add onion and saute until tender.
3. Stir in flour, salt and oregano.
4. Add macaroni and milk.
5. Cover and bring to a boil.
6. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes or until macaroni is tender.
7. Stir occasionally.
8. Add cheese and stir until cheese is melted (DO NOT BOIL).
