Stew With Cranberries (Swedish Kalops) |

A traditional roast with the addition of cranberries to give it a festive feel. Ingredients:
2 lbs stew meat |
1 tablespoon vegetable oil |
1/4 cup flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
2 medium onions, chopped |
2 bay leaves |
16 ounces canned cranberry sauce, with whole cranberries |
1/2 cup water |
Directions:
1. Heat the oil over medium high heat in a large saucepan. 2. Mix flour, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. 3. Add meat to flour mixture and dredge until lightly coated. 4. Add the meat to the oil and cook until brown on all sides. 5. Top with remaining ingredients and stir. Cover and cook on medium heat for 90 minutes. 6. Remove the bay leaves. 7. Serve with boiled potatoes, cabbage, or pickled beets. |
