Stephanie's Braised Cabbage

Ingredients:
1 onion, sweet sliced thin
6 tablespoon(s) butter
1 head red cabbage (3 lb) shredded
1/4 cup(s) sugar
1/2 cup(s) red wine vinegar
1/4 cup(s) brown sugar
1/2 cup(s) dry red wine
1 cup(s) orange juice
1 tablespoon(s) orange peel grated
2 teaspoon(s) kosher salt
1 bay leaf
Directions:
1. Cook onion in butter. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add cabbage and cook pover low heat for 5 minutes.
2. In a small pan, dissolve sugars in vinegar and reduce ver moderate heat to 3-4 tablespoons. Add OJ and wine. Bring to simmer and pour over cabbage.
3. Stir in orange zest, salt, cloves and bayleaf.
4. Cover and bake at 325 for 2 hours.
