Stella's Homemade Meat Chili |

Each serving is 1 cup (250ml) Ingredients:
3 lbs lean ground beef |
3 cups dry red kidney beans, cooked |
398 ml del monte diced tomatoes, no salt |
1360 ml hunts tomato sauce |
2 large onions, diced |
1 tsp. salt |
1 tsp. pepper |
3 tbsps chili powder |
1 tsp chili flakes |
Directions:
1. Cook the kidney beans until semi-tender. 2. In the meantime, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. 3. Add the diced onions, salt, black pepper and cook a few minutes longer. 4. Then sprinkle the chili powder over the ground meat and stir to mix. 5. Add the diced tomatoes and the tomato sauce and the cooked beans with a little of the cooking liquid (about 1/2 cup). 6. Add the chili flakes and stir well. simmer for about an hour to 1 1/2 hrs until beans are tender. You can add a little more chili flakes if you like it spicier. |
