I love these mussels! They are so easy to make and take no time at all, but the flavor is delicious. Ingredients:
2 lbs mussels |
1 small onion |
2 cloves of garlic |
1 cup of white wine |
butter |
approx. 1/4 cup of water |
Directions:
1. Clean the mussels by running them under cold water and removing any dirt you see. 2. Slice the onions into thin strips 3. Mince the garlic (or you could put it through a garlic press) 4. Heat the butter in a medium sized sauce pot over medium-high heat. 5. Add the onions and garlic to the butter. Fry them until the onions are soft. 6. Add the white wine, water, and the mussels to the pot (I usually eyeball the amount of water to add - there shouldn't be much liquid in the pot) 7. Cover the pot and let the mussels cook for about 4 or 5 minutes. I usually wait for the mussels to open and then leave them for about a minute or two longer. |
