From a can of cherry pie filling many years ago. Ingredients:
1 can cherry pie filling |
1/4 cup water |
2 tbsp butter |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/4 cup sugar |
2 tbsp butter |
1/2 tsp vanilla |
1/2 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Mix cherry pie filling, water and 2 Tbsp butter in a large pan (at least 3 1/2 quart). 2. Boil for 5 minutes. 3. Now make dumplings. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. 4. Cut in 2 Tbsp butter. 5. Add the vanilla to the milk, then mix with the flour mixture until dry ingredients are all moist. 6. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto hot cherry sauce in saucepan. 7. Boil uncovered for 5 minutes, then cover, reduce heat and steam gently for 30 to 35 minutes. 8. Serve warm, spooning the sauce over the dumplings. |
