Steamed Blueberry Dumplings

This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Paulson Estate in Boise, Idaho in 1994.
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
blueberry sauce
21 ounce can blueberry pie filling
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
Directions:
1. Mix pie filling, water and 2 tablespoons butter in saucepan then boil 5 minutes.
2. Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar then cut in butter.
3. Add vanilla to milk and mix with flour mixture just enough to moisten all dry ingredients.
4. Drop dumplings by teaspoonful onto the hot sauce.
5. Boil uncovered for 5 minutes.
6. Cover and steam gently for 35 minutes or until dumplings are no longer moist on top.
7. Serve warm with sauce.
