From a hand written1930s cookkbook from Neligh Ne. This is one of those coffee can breads. Ingredients:
1 cup all-bran cereal |
1/2 cup raisins |
1/2 cup nuts |
1 egg |
3/4 cup buttermilk |
1/3 cup molasses, light |
1 cup flour, sifted |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Combine all bran cereal, raisins, nuts, egg, buttermilk, and molasses. 2. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. 3. Add dry ingredients into wet mixture; stir just until combined. 4. Fill quart cans that have been greased. 5. This will fill 2 quart cans. 6. Steam for 2-1/2 hours. |
