Appetizers from Cooking a la Heart - Delicious Heart Healthy Recipes from the Mankato Heart Health Program, 1988. This is a versatile marinade- chicken or pheasant- boned, cubed, marinade and grilled on wooden skewers and served with a variety of spicy mustards- is also really good. Ingredients:
1 garlic clove, minced |
1/2 medium onion, minced |
2 teaspoons sugar |
1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce |
1/4 cup dry wine |
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger |
3/4 lb lean round steak, 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick |
10 inches wooden skewers |
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine garlic, onion, sugar, soy sauce, wine and ginger. 2. Cut steak into thin slices and place in marinade. 3. Marinate for at leat 2 hours, stirring occasinoally. 4. Thread steak strips ribbon fashion on 6 wooden skewers. 5. Broil, turning once, to desired degree of doneness- Serve hot. |
