From Southern Living. The balsamic vinegar goes well with the mushrooms and steak. Really nice for a romantic dinner! The recipe calls for flat iron steaks, but rib eyes would also work well. Ingredients:
4 (6 ounce) flat iron steaks |
1 1/4 teaspoons salt, divided |
3/4 teaspoon ground pepper, divided |
2 tablespoons olive oil |
2 garlic cloves |
1 (8 ounce) package mushrooms |
1/2 cup balsamic vinegar |
Directions:
1. Clean and slice mushrooms. Set aside. 2. Rub steaks with 1 t salt and 1/2 t pepper. 3. Cook steaks in hot oil in a large skillet over medium high heat for 4-5 minutes per side. 4. Let rest on a warming platter (in oven) or near burner. 5. Add garlic to the skillet; saute 30 seconds, stirring constantly. 6. Add mushrooms and remaining 1/4 t salt and 1/4 t pepper, saute 3 minutes. 7. Stir in vinegar; cook for 5 minutes, stiriing frequently. 8. Spoon mixture over each steak. 9. Serve immediately. |
