This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Ingredients:
3 egg whites |
1/2 pound powdered sugar |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon cinnamon |
1/2 pound grated almonds |
Directions:
1. Beat egg whites until frothy then add sugar, salt and cinnamon and beat 20 minutes. 2. Save 2 tablespoons of this mixture for icing. 3. Add almonds to remainder of mixture. 4. Roll thin on board well covered with powdered sugar then cut into shapes. 5. Cover with reserved icing and bake for 12 minutes at 350. |
