A true Southern dish, straight from Gamma's kitchen. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs squash |
1 medium onion |
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese |
1/4 cup milk |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/2 cup crushed cracker |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Grease a 1-1 1/2 quart casserole dish. 3. Cook squash and onion (both cut up) in a small amount of boiling salted water until just tender; drain well. 4. Combine with other ingredients except 1/4 cup cheese and the crackers. 5. Place in greased dish and sprinkle cheese and crackers on top. 6. Bake for 30 minutes. |
