From the Betty Crocker cookbook. Our family has made these for years - they were my dad's favorite as a kid. Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup white sugar |
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (do not use self rising flour) |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 400°F 2. Mix butter and sugar. 3. Mix in remaining ingredients. 4. Place dough in cookie press; form desired shapes on ungreased cookie sheet. 5. Bake until set but not brown, 6-9 minutes. 6. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. |
