A long-time family favorite! This dip is great to serve to a crowd of hungry guys while watching weekend sports, or just to serve at any time! My Kittencal's Red Enchilada or Taco Sauce works great in this recipe! Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef |
1 -2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely chopped (optional or to taste) |
2 -4 teaspoons dried chili pepper flakes (or to taste) |
1 small onion, chopped |
2 -4 teaspoons seasoning salt |
black pepper |
2 -3 tablespoons fresh minced garlic |
1 cup mayonnaise or 1 cup salad dressing |
1 cup taco sauce (mild, medium or hot, see my kittencal's red enchilada or taco sauce) |
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded |
1 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded |
1 small onion, chopped |
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (or to taste) |
1 pint sour cream |
corn chips (any amount) or tortilla chips (any amount) |
Directions:
1. Set oven to 350 degrees. 2. In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion, garlic, chili flakes, salt and black pepper stirring often until crumbly; drain any fat. 3. In a small bowl combine mayo and taco sauce; stir in ground beef. 4. Add 3/4 cup of both cheeses, chopped onion, and fresh garlic. 5. Season with more salt and pepper to taste if desired. 6. Transfer to a large oven-proof dish or pie plate; top off with remaining cheeses. 7. Insert corn or tortilla chips all around the edges of dish Bake for 15-20 minutes. 8. SO good! |
