Ingredients:
1 carrots, diced |
1 stalk(s) celery, chopped |
dill |
garlic,bayleaf, parsley;, s, p, thyme and cumin ( ) |
2 tablespoon(s) olive oil |
1 onion(peeled, diced) |
2 cup(s) split peas |
2 quart(s) vegetable stock (cold) or pareve chicken soup |
Directions:
1. Heat oil. Add onions, garlic, celery,carrots and saute for few min. Add split peas with bay leaf, parsley, stock and cumin, other seasonings. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for about 30 min., covered, until soft. Discard bay leaf. Add raw barley (1/2 c.) and heat 40 min. Puree in blender in batches, until semi-smooth. Needs a little texture. |
