I grew up on this soup. I love it. Ingredients:
2 quarts soft water |
2 cups split peas |
1 stalk celery, chopped |
1 large carrot, chopped |
1 small onion, chopped |
1/4 teaspoon ground thyme |
1 pinch on cayenne pepper |
1 bay leaf |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in pot. 2. Bring to boil. 3. Boil hard for 20 minutes. 4. Then simmer until peas are tender (at least 3 hours) 5. Strain fine sieve or blend removing bay leaf. 6. Then reheat to almost boiling. |
