Several convenience products make this recipe appealing, in addition to garlic, Worcestershire, and a hint of lemon. Water chestnuts lend a little crunch. Ingredients:
1/2 cup finely chopped onion |
1/2 cup finely chopped celery |
2 large garlic cloves, minced |
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted |
2 (10-ounce) packages frozen chopped turnip greens |
1 (8-ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained and chopped |
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted |
2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1/4 teaspoon grated lemon rind |
6 to 8 drops of hot sauce |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Sauté first 3 ingredients in butter in a large saucepan until tender. 2. Cook turnip greens according to package directions; drain well. Add to saucepan. Stir in water chestnuts and remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. |
