Roasting tames the peppery nature of the turnips and concentrates their sugars. Ingredients:
1 tablespoon brown sugar |
2 teaspoons butter, melted |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper |
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger |
dash of ground allspice |
3 (6-ounce) turnips, peeled and each cut into 6 wedges |
cooking spray |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°. 2. Combine first 7 ingredients in a jelly roll pan or shallow roasting pan coated with cooking spray; toss to coat. Bake at 400° for 35 minutes or until tender, stirring every 10 minutes. |
