Spicy Raisin-Nut Cookies

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup chopped raisins
1 cup chopped pecans
Directions:
1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy, Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
2. Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to creamed mixture, beating until well blended.
3. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger; add to creamed mixture, stirring until well blended. Stir in raisins and pecans.
4. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 4 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 425° for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool slightly on cookie sheets. Remove from cookie sheets, and cool completely on wire racks.
