SPICY PECANS This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Dalton Estate in Fort Worth, Texas in 1992. Ingredients:
2 cups pecans |
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt |
1/2 teaspoon chili powder |
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
1 tablespoon coarse salt |
Directions:
1. Place pecans in a large plastic zipper bag then mix seasoning ingredients in a small bowl. Add to pecans then seal and toss well to coat pecans. 2. In a large skillet melt butter then add olive oil and heat. 3. Add seasoned pecans and cook stirring constantly for 5 minutes. 4. Remove from heat and spread pecans on a baking sheet. 5. Bake in a preheated 325 oven for 15 minutes stirring every 5 minutes. 6. Remove from oven and sprinkle with salt. 7. Cool and store in refrigerator in an airtight container. |
