These nuts make a great gift or just put out in pretty bowl at the holidays. Ingredients:
4 c pecan halves(not salted) |
2 tb orange juice(fresh is best) |
1 large egg white |
2 tb fresh orange zest |
1/2 c sugar |
1-1/2 tsp kosher salt |
1-1/2 tsp chili powder |
1/4 to 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper |
pinch of black pepper |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 225. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. 2. In large bowl,combine pecansorange juice and egg white and toss to coat. In small bowl,combine orange zest,sugar,salt and spices. 3. Add to the nuts and toss to coat evenly. 4. Spread evenly on baking sheet and bake,stirring every 15 mins till they appear dry,about 1 hour. Cool completely. Store in airtight container. |
