Spicy Indian Pomfret Bhurji |

Bhurji's are a family favourite in my house. I hope you enjoy this wonderful pomfret bhurji. The recipe comes from Anjali Vellody's FOOD column, Weekend. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons oil |
2 cloves garlic, minced |
1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste |
5 green chilies, washed,ends trimmed and finely chopped |
2 onions, finely chopped |
1 cup grated coconut |
1/2 cup finely chopped fresh coriander leaves |
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder |
1 lime, juice of |
salt |
1 butterfish, washed,sliced and marinated in |
1/2 tablespoon white vinegar, and |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a skillet on medium flame. 2. Stir in the minced garlic and fry until lightly browned. 3. Mix in the green chillies and onions. 4. Saute until the onions are browned and aromatic. 5. Now add the coconut, corriander leaves, salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice. 6. Cook on low flame{simmer} for 12 minutes. 7. Now, fold in the fish slices. 8. Mix carefully and cook, stirring occasionally, until the fish is tender when touched with a fork and ready to eat. 9. Serve hot with rotis or white bread. 10. Enjoy! |
