Cranberry sauce with a zing Ingredients:
1 cup water |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 tsp ginger |
1 hard pear, peeled and diced |
2 cups cranberries |
1 lemon (grated plus the juice) |
1/4 cup cognac |
Directions:
1. combine water, sugar, ginger; boil 5 minutes. 2. Add pear; simmer 3 minutes 3. Add cranberries and continue cooking sauce, without stirring, until the cranberries pop open. 4. Cool the sauce. 5. Just before serving, stir in lemon juice, rind and cognac. 6. Serve in relish dish to accompany turkey. |
