I find that using the broiler is alot faster than using conventional baking. I also use an ingredient called Hazel Hamout, which is a middle eastern blend of curry, cayenne pepper, edible flower petals, and rosemary. I found out about it on one of my trips to the Jean Talon market in Montreal. You're most likely to find it in Arab stores, because thst is where I found mine. You can mix curry and cayenne pepper together to give a similar taste. I'll list it below as optional, even though I use it all the time in this recipe. Ingredients:
3 lbs ground beef |
1 medium onion, chopped |
2 teaspoons salt |
2 teaspoons pepper |
2 teaspoons garlic powder |
2 teaspoons oregano |
2 teaspoons paprika |
2 teaspoons mixed curry powder or 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper |
Directions:
1. Preheat broiler at 500 degrees F. 2. Mix all ingredients together. 3. Shape into small patties and put on broiler rack. 4. Cook patties at 8 minutes each side. |
