This moist and flavourful applesauce bar is topped with a creamy white icing. Ingredients:

1 cup sugar |
1/3 cup butter, softened |
1 egg |
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1-1/2 cups applesauce |
1 teaspoon ground allspice |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup raisins, soaked in boiling water and drained |
icing |
3 cups powdered sugar |
1/3 cup sour cream |
3 tbsp. butter, softened |
2 tbsp. vanilla |
1/2 cup chopped pecans |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. 2. Spray 13 x 9 inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray. 3. Set aside. 4. Combine sugar, 1/3 cup butter and egg in large bowl. 5. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. 6. Reduce speed to low; add all remaining ingredients except raisins. Beat, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. 7. Stir in raisins. 8. Spoon batter into prepared pan. 9. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 10. Cool completely. 11. Combine all frosting ingredients except pecans in small bowl. 12. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth. 13. Frost cooled bars; sprinkle with pecans or candied sprinkles. 14. Cut into bars. |
