Spicy Apple and Oat Slice |

An easy slice similar to Apple crisp or Apple crumble. Serve hot with icecream for dessert or cold for afternoon tea! I make this slice with my own apples when they're in season. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 cup rolled oats |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup desiccated coconut |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
185 g butter, melted |
400 g stewed apples or 1 (400 g) can pie apples |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to moderate 180 degrees c. 2. Grease& line a rectangle slice pan. 3. Place flour, oats, sugar, coconut& cinnamon in a large mixing bowl, stir to combine. 4. Make a well in centre& pour in melted butter. 5. Mix with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are moist. 6. Firmly press two-thirds of the mixture into the prepared pan. 7. Place the apple on top, smooth it out with a fork or spatula& sprinkle with extra cinnamon. 8. Crumble remaining mixture over apples, press gently onto the apples with your fingers. 9. Bake for 30- 35 minutes until golden& base is crisp. 10. Cool& cut into fingers or squares. |
