I really like squid and it's great prepared this way. It's crunchy and delicious. Enjoy! Ingredients:
3/4 lb fresh squid or 1/2 lb squid, slices |
1 egg |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
splash sesame oil |
1 pinch white pepper |
3 tablespoons cornstarch |
2 tablespoons oil, separated |
oil (for frying) |
5 tablespoons soy sauce |
4 garlic cloves, minced |
2 shallots, minced |
1 small red chili pepper, thinly sliced |
Directions:
1. Peel off the skin of fresh squid and gut; clean thoroughly. Cut the squid into thick strips. Set aside and drain. 2. Place squid in a bowl, add egg, salt, sesame oil, white pepper, 3-tbsp cornstarch and 1-tbsp oil and soy sauce. Mix well. 3. Heat up a pot with oil. Deep-fry squid with maximum heat until crispy. Remove and put aside. 4. In a wok, stir-fry garlic shallots, and red chili in 1 tablespoon oil. 5. Reduce the heat, place the deep-fried squids in wok. Season with salt and serve right away. |
