I got this recipe from my naturopath, but I added my own twist. So here is the original and my additions Ingredients:
4 cloves of garlic, or minced garlic |
1 tsp of salt |
2- 1pound 3ounce can of chick peas, drained and rinsed |
2/3 cup of well stirred tahini |
1/4 cup of lemon juice, or to taste |
1/2 cup of olive oil, or to taste |
1/4 cup of fresh parsley |
2 tbs of pine nut lightly toasted. i omit |
hot sauce your favorite, to taste. i use a fine chili sauce |
water |
Directions:
1. on a cutting board minced and mash the garlic cloves, to a paste with the salt. 2. If you are using already minced garlic omit step 1 3. In a food processor puree the chick peas, garlic, salt, lemon juice, half the olive oil, and half a cup of water ( if needed) 4. Scraping down the sides, until the hummus is smooth and add salt to tase 5. In the food processor, cleaned, puree the remaining oil and parsley until bright green and the parsley is minced. 6. I then add the parsley oil and hot sauce to the hummus. Add as much hot sauce as you like |
