This recipe goes with Clementine Salad with Spiced Walnuts and Pickled Onions Ingredients:
1 cup walnut halves |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 cup water |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
dash of ground red pepper |
cooking spray |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Arrange walnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. 3. Combine sugar and the next 4 ingredients (sugar through red pepper) in a small saucepan. Cook, without stirring, until a candy thermometer registers 238° (about 8 minutes). Remove from heat; stir in walnuts. Pour walnut mixture onto baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Cool completely; break into small pieces. 4. Note: Store remaining walnuts in an airtight container. |
