Great to nibble on with a glass of Champagne over the holidays! From Bon Appetit. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
1/2 cup packed golden brown sugar |
1/4 cup water |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons chinese five spice powder (a blend of ground anise, cinnamon, star anise, cloves and ginger, available in the spice section of) |
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin |
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper |
4 cups pecan halves |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Butter 2 large baking sheets. 3. Melt 1/4 cup butter in large skillet over medium heat. 4. Add brown sugar, 1/4 cup water, salt and spices; stir until sugar dissolves. 5. Add nuts to sugar mixture and cook until syrup thickly coats nuts, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes. 6. Transfer nuts to prepared baking sheets. 7. Bake until golden, about 5-10 minutes. 8. Cool (Can be prepared 3 days ahead. Store in airtight container at room temperature). |
