Got this recipe from a friend years ago. These are great by themselves. Also great in baked goods like cookies or brownies, or as a garnish on a cake. Ingredients:
1 lb nuts (pecans or walnuts, halves or large pieces are best) |
2 egg whites |
1 tbsp water |
1 cup sugar |
1 tsp cinnamon |
1 tsp salt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300oF. 2. Mix together egg whites and water and whisk until foamy. 3. Stir in nuts. 4. Add sugar, cinnamon, and salt. 5. Stir well to coat and evenly mix. 6. Pour onto a baking sheet (line it with foil or a silicone) and place in oven. 7. Stir nuts thoroughly ever 15 minutes for a total of 45 minutes. 8. Remove from oven and cool. |
