This is a great change to the same old bowl of mixed nuts. Instead of using mixed nuts use just pecans, walnuts, or peanuts. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper for a little kick. Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
1/4 teaspoon allspice |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1 egg white, slightly beaten |
2 1/2 tablespoons water |
3 cups unsalted mixed nuts |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 275. 2. Combine sugar, salt, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and nutmeg. 3. Stir in egg white and water till blended. 4. Add nuts, a 1/2 cup at a time, stir until coated. 5. Lift out with a slotted spoon or spider utensil, draining off excess syrup. Spread on greased cookie sheet; bake 45 minutes or until golden and crusty. |
