Aloo ka Chaukha (aka Mashed potatoes) is one of the greatest delights I am across at my in-law's place. This is an asian version of mashed potatoes. It is widely made in the Bihar and East UP households, India. The mashed potatoes in this recipe have a distinct flavor owing to the mustard oil used. Its a quick and easy dish and can tantalise your taste buds.. Ingredients:
2 medium potatoes (peeled) |
1/2 small red onion (chopped) |
1/2 green chili pepper (can use red chilli powder instead) |
1 teaspoon fresh coriander leaves (optional) |
1 -2 drop mustard oil |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Slightly mash the boiled potatoes and add all the remaining ingredients.Mix well and mash together into a fine paste. 2. Its ready! 3. Make sure the mustard oil is not more than 2-3 drops or you could end up getting the wasabi like kicks :P. |
