Halfway between bread and cake, this is a very easy and delicious version of an old favorite. The spices give it a subtle but delicious flavor!For maximum flavor and moistness, use very dark, overripe bananas. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups bananas (mashed and very ripe) |
1 cup brown sugar |
1/3 cup vegetable oil |
2 eggs (beaten) |
1/2 cup sour cream |
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine bananas, sugar, oil, sour cream and eggs and mix thoroughly. 2. In a seperate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder, allspice, cloves, nutmeg and salt. 3. Combine both mixtures. 4. Pour into a greased loaf pan. 5. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until tested inserted in center comes out clean. 6. Let it cool in loaf pan for 5 minutes before turning out onto a rack to cool completely. 7. Slice to serve with butter. |
