my favorite way to make cider in the winter! i get the unfiltered apple cider if i can. i think it has a richer flavor. if you don't have fresh ginger, dried is okay. you want it in pieces though, not ground. You can also halve the cloves and add about 10 peppercorns. Ingredients:
1 gallon apple cider |
4 sticks cinnamon |
3 whole nutmegs, whole |
8 cloves, whole |
1 inch gingerroot |
Directions:
1. Throw everything into the crock pot, or on the stove on low heat, and simmer all day. 2. If you run low on the cider, buy another gallon and dump it into the crock pot. You don't even have to replace the spices! 3. you can start serving as soon as it's warm, but the flavor gets better the longer it simmers! |
