Spent Grain Cheddar Scones

My variation from . I make these after my husband brews a batch of beer.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups wheat flour
3/4 cup spent grain
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon honey
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 1/4 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Mix wheat, baking powder, salt and pepper.
3. Mix in spent grain, honey, cheddar and cut in butter.
4. Mix in buttermilk and egg.
5. Pat or roll & cut into scones and bake 20 minutes.
