Spanish Cream Pie

An old fashioned diner type pie. Lower fat due to no egg yolks, but still so delicious.
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
4 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
sliced banana
1 9 inch pie shell, baked
Directions:
1. Combine milk, sugar, salt and cornstarch in a saucepan and cook until thick.
2. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and 1 t vanilla.
3. Let cool.
4. Pour into baked pie shell.
5. Place sliced bananas on top, then finish off with cool whip topping or whipped cream.
