This meal is a hometown favorite. When people hear the title, they immediately get grossed out. But when they try it, they love it. It's not the healthiest meal in the world! Ingredients:
1 (12 ounce) can spam, classic cubed |
2 (15 ounce) cans french style green beans, with juice |
3 -4 cups cooked white rice |
4 tablespoons butter, unsalted |
1 cup milk, divided (3/4 cup, 1/4 cup) |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
2 cups cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Pour green beans into a 2 quart pot with juice on low-medium heat. 2. Cube Spam into 1/2 inch chunks. 3. Add Spam to green beans, cover. 4. While Spam & Green beans are cooking, make the cheese rue sauce:. 5. Slowly melt butter in a small saucepan. 6. While butter is melting, mix 1/4 cup milk with cornstarch, dissolve. 7. Add 3/4 cup milk to butter, stir and keep on medium heat. 8. Once butter and milk has a slow bubble, slowly stir in cornstarch/milk mix. 9. Stir/whisk frequently for 2-3 minutes. 10. Add cheddar cheese in small amounts. 11. Sauce should be thick, not runny. If the sauce is runny, add more cheese. 12. LAYER: Rice on bottom, then green beans/spam mixture, then cheese sauce in bowl. Sprinkle with a little black pepper. |
