A wonderful from scratch recipe that has been in my family for generations.
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1/4 cup diced green pepper
1 medium onion
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato puree
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 tablespoon sugar
16 ounces water
Directions:
1. Heat oil and brown the ground beef. Once beef is browned add chopped onion, green pepper and garlic. Saute until soft. Add all the remianing ingredients, cover and simmer for 2 hours. If sauce gets too thick add a little more water to thin it out.
