A wonderful from scratch recipe that has been in my family for generations. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 lb ground beef |
1/4 cup diced green pepper |
1 medium onion |
1 teaspoon minced garlic |
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can tomato puree |
1 1/4 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1 teaspoon garlic salt |
1 teaspoon oregano |
1 teaspoon basil |
1 tablespoon sugar |
16 ounces water |
Directions:
1. Heat oil and brown the ground beef. Once beef is browned add chopped onion, green pepper and garlic. Saute until soft. Add all the remianing ingredients, cover and simmer for 2 hours. If sauce gets too thick add a little more water to thin it out. |
