A great winter treat. Serve with spaghetti and a huge loaf of good, crusty bread for dipping into the sauce. Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef |
1 cup breadcrumbs |
2 eggs |
1 small onion – finely chopped |
1 cup olive oil |
3 cloves of crushed garlic |
1 tsp chicken stock powder |
5 tomatoes – peeled & chopped |
1 tsp salt |
1 tsp pepper |
1/2 tsp ground cumin |
1/2 tsp sugar |
Directions:
1. Combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion and 2 cloves of crushed garlic. 2. Mix well. 3. Lightly fry in 1/2 cup of hot oil. 4. Do not over fry. 5. Place on paper towels to drain. 6. For sauce, combine tomatoes, 1 clove of crushed garlic, chicken stock, cumin, sugar, salt & pepper. 7. Simmer. 8. Once sauce has thickened add soutzoukakia and heat thoroughly. |
