A hint of amaretto makes this custard special, but you can also substitute rum for the liqueur. The 250-degree baking temperature is not a misprint; this one cooks very slowly. Preparation time does not include chilling time. Ingredients:
4 eggs |
1/2 cup honey |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon ground coriander |
3 cups milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
2 tablespoons amaretto liqueur |
ground nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Place first 7 ingredients (eggs through amaretto) in a blender and blend thoroughly. 2. Pour into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish, sprinkle with nutmeg, set dish in a pan of warm water and bake at 250F until firm, about 2 hours. Let cool, then place in refrigerator to chill. |
