The title says its all. These burgers are delicious and have a nice kick. We also cut up the burgers and left off the toppings and our 2 year old daughter loved them! We served these with tortilla chips. The recipe comes from the Better Homes & Gardens New Cookbook.
Ingredients:
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup finely crushed tortilla chips
3 tablespoons finely chopped green sweet peppers
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 lb ground uncooked chicken
4 slices monterey jack pepper cheese
4 kaiser rolls or 4 hamburger buns
1 avocado, halved, seeded, peeled and sliced (optional)
4 lettuce leaves
1/4 cup salsa
Directions:
1. Preheat broiler.
2. Mix together egg, tortilla chips, sweet pepper, chili powder, salt and pepper.
3. Add chicken, mix well. (mixture will be wet).
4. Shape chicken into four 3/4 inch patties.
5. Place patties onto unheated rack of broiler pan. Broil 4-5 inches from heat for 14 - 18 minutes or until no longer pink. (165 degrees) turning once halfway through.
6. Top burgers with cheese and broil an additional minute until cheese melts.
7. Serve on toasted rolls. Top with avocado, lettuce, and salsa.
